Thousand Oaks Jewelry Store Employee Fires at Robber, Who Gets Away: Sheriff’s Office

A man who tried to rob a jewelry store in Thousand Oaks, prompting an exchange of gunfire with an employee, was being sought by deputies on Tuesday.

The attempted robbery occurred about 1:15 p.m. Avenida de los Arboles and Erbes Road, according to the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office.

When a man tried to rob Albert’s Jewelers, an employee fired at him, and the man also fired, according to sheriff’s Sgt. Denise Sliva.

Witnesses said the suspect was shot. He fled.

Three employees were inside the store at the time of the gunfire, but no customers were present, Sliva said. No one was hurt.

It’s not clear if there was one or two people involved in the attempted robbery, Sliva said.

The robber was described only as male. Investigators were looking at surveillance video to learn more.
