This is the all new Dinosaurs Unextinct exhibit at the Los Angeles Zoo, which features a pack of 17 life-size and life-like animatronic dinosaurs taking visitors back in time for a colossal adventure filled with facts about the prehistoric era, the featured dinosaurs and their similarities to L.A. Zoo animals. Even the foliage similar to the earliest known trees and plants at the time dinosaurs roamed the earth, among them ferns, cycads, conifers and ginkos.

It’s Earth Day weekend at Descanso Gardens in La Canada Flintridge.

Earth Day is a worldwide event which promotes environmental awareness. It is celebrated April 22 in more than 192 countries each year. Descanso's festival focuses on native flora and fauna, including wildflowers, oaks and chaparral plants of the San Rafael Hills.

Earth Day festival activities are free with admission unless noted. Activities include:
• Mt. SAC plant sale, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. : Students from the Mt. San Antonio College horticulture program will sell a variety of potted plants to make your home garden beautiful this spring.
• Botanic Bling, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. : Botanic Bling, a trunk show of unique jewelry and accessories, returns with an Earth Day flavor just in time for Mother's Day shopping.
• California wildflower display, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. : Get a close-up look at some of the beautiful California native wildflowers cultivated at Descanso Gardens.
• Wildflower seed activity, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. : Choose from a variety of native seeds curated by Descanso's expert horticulturalists to create a wildflower seed packet to plant at home.
• Patina, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. : Patina chefs will have garden-fresh cuisine available for purchase, including grilled favorites, salads and smoothies.
• 5K Fun Run & Walk, 7:30 a.m. : Take an early-morning run (or walk) through Descanso and help raise funds to support the Gardens! Sign-in begins at 6:30 a.m. Information and registration at a5events.com

This is “Back to the Future” Month at the Petersen Automotive Museum.

See the DeLorean DMC-12 time machine, made famous by the 1985 hit movie “Back to the Future.” The iconic car makes its first appearance at the museum courtesy Universal Studios Hollywood.

A month long celebration of the iconic car and film trilogy includes panel discussions, a DeLorean cruise-in and an ‘80s themed “Enchantment Under The Sea” dance.

Sunday, April 24th, DeLorean owners are invited to bring their cars to the Petersen for a DeLorean themed Breakfast Club Cruise-In from 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. All car enthusiasts are invited to participate in the car show and contest on the 3rd floor of the museum’s parking structure. Awards will be given for Best-In-Show, People’s Choice and Petersen Perfection

At the Mullin Automotive Museum in Oxnard, there’s the new exhibit, Cars and Carriages, featuring examples of transportation from the end of the horse drawn era and dawn of the automotive age, including carriages and early motorcars from France’s prominent coachbuilders.

Eight unique, hand-built horse-drawn carriages are on display, including late 19th century examples from L’Renault, Kellner and Labourdette, to estate carts, carriages and gigs built by Bugatti as late as the 1930s. The automobile portion of the exhibit features nine French automobiles from manufacturers such as Bugatti, Hispano-Suiza, Renault, Panhard and Levassor, Sunbeam-Talbot-Darracq and more.

This is the LAST WEEKEND to experience Random International’s Rain Room (2012) is an immersive environment of perpetually falling water that pauses wherever a human body is detected. Rain Room presents a respite from everyday life and an opportunity for sensory reflection within a responsive relationship.
