Update:
Robert Tana turned himself in at the Harbor Justice Center in Newport Beach Friday afternoon, Irvine police said.
Original story:
A 42-year-old Garden Grove man accused of trying to sexually assault an underage girl at an Irvine home is being sought by investigators, police said Thursday.
Robert Tana is the subject of a $1 million warrant for his arrest, according to the Irvine Police Department.
Tana was staying overnight at an acquaintance’s home on March 23, when he went into the teen girl’s room about 4 a.m., according to police.
The girl woke up and was able to fight him off, police spokeswoman Farrah Emami said.
Tana left and the assault was reported to police, who later identified him as a suspect, according to a Police Department news release.
He’s known to frequent Garden Grove and Huntington Beach but has not been found, Emami said.
Tana is described as a 5-foot-9-inch Asian man weighing 160 pounds with brown eyes and black hair. He drives a black four-door 2015 Cadillac sedan with license plate No. 7MMB385, police said.
Anyone with information on Tana’s whereabouts is asked to call Detective Sarah Tunnicliffe at 949-724-7170.
