Long Beach Shooting Leaves 1 Dead; Shooter at Large

A shooter was at large following the fatal shooting of a person in Long Beach late Tuesday evening, authorities said.

Officers responded about 11:15 p.m. to a report of shots fired in the 400 block of Loma Vista Drive, said Lt. Paul Baum of the Long Beach Police Department.

A male victim was found lying in the street at the scene, suffering from gunshot wounds to the upper torso, according to the lieutenant. Long Beach Fire Department paramedics arrived and pronounced the person dead. He was not immediately identified.

No description of the shooter was available.

Long Beach police homicide detectives were investigating the incident. The motive was unknown.
