SoCal Toddler Dies After Shooting Herself in the Head With Loaded Gun She Found in Apartment: Police

A 3-year-old girl in Central California died after she pulled the trigger on a loaded gun and shot herself in the head, authorities said.

The girl, who was visiting the city of Lemoore from Southern California, found the gun Saturday in an apartment, according to the Lemoore Police Department. Police announced the shooting on Wednesday.

Officers were called to a residence just before 1 p.m. after a person reported that a child was suffering from a head wound, police said in a statement.

Paramedics found the child lying on the bedroom floor with a single gunshot wound in her skull.
