The incident began about 9 a.m. when Irwindale police spotted a possible stolen SUV out of Riverside. The driver failed to stop, but eventually crashed onto a wall on a sidewalk near the intersection of Maine Avenue and Olive Street in Baldwin Park, Irwindale Police Capt. Ty Henshaw tweeted.

Two men were arrested near the crash and one threw what looked like a gun into the gutter. A third man ran away and hid in a nearby home.

Tactical teams responded and the man was eventually taken into custody about 12:30 p.m., Henshaw tweeted. The man has not been identified.

The Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department assisted in the incident.
