Travis Jones, seen in a Ventura County Sheriff's Office booking photo, was arrested by Ventura police on July 19, 2016.

A transient was arrested Tuesday night after a Ventura homeowner spotted him in his hot tub, officials said.

The incident occurred about 8:30 p.m. Tuesday in the 1800 block of Channel Drive, Ventura police said in a news release. The homeowner heard loud noises in his backyard and spotted a man inside his hot tub.

The man, identified as Travis Jones, 47, ran out of the yard after being confronted by the homeowner and jumped onto the roof of another home, police said.

Responding officers found Jones on the roof and he was taken into custody without incident.

He was booked into Ventura County jail on suspicion of prowling, being under the influence of a controlled substance and a parole violation, officials said.
