A man was shot to death outside of an East Los Angeles party early Sunday, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.

The incident was reported about 3:30 a.m. in the 200 block of North Alma Avenue, officials said in a news release.

Responding officers found the victim lying in the middle of the street with gunshot wounds. Paramedics attempted to treat the victim, but he was pronounced dead at the scene, officials said.

Witnesses told detectives that the victim was talking to a group of people outside of a large party. The individuals apparently told the victim to leave when several gunshots were fired and the victim was struck, according to the news release.

The suspect is described as a Hispanic man possibly in his 20s.

No further details were available Sunday morning.

Detectives remained at the scene about 9 a.m. collecting evidence and talking to witnesses.
