Los Angeles Police Department officials released this sketch of a man they believe tried to kidnap a North Hollywood woman at gunpoint on Aug. 11, 2016.

The incident began about 10:30 p.m. Aug. 11 as the woman was driving home in the 7700 block of Ethel Avenue, officials said in a community alert.

The man began to follow her in his car and stopped in front of her home, according to the LAPD.

The woman parked her car and when she got out, the man held a gun to her head. He then ordered her to get into his car but she screamed for help and ran away, police said.

He is described as being in his early to mid 20s, with a light goatee and was wearing a zip-up sweater and gray pants.

He was in an older model four-door car that was either tan or brown.
