The incident occurred about 10:20 p.m. in the 800 block of West La Jolla Street, when Placentia Police officers who were in the area heard the sound of the crash.

The victims were found unresponsive and were later declared dead at the scene.

A preliminary investigation determined that the victims were walking across the street after leaving a child’s birthday party when they were hit by a vehicle. A truck was also struck, officials said.

Both drivers remained at the scene, and the man in the suspect vehicle, Nicholas Stephen Muñoz, 27, of Placentia, was arrested, police said.
