Firefighters Battling 40 Acre Wildfire in Lake Elsinore

Firefighters were battling a 40 acre wildfire on the west side of Lake Elsinore, officials reported Monday.

The Evergreen Fire started about 1:20 p.m. Sunday in the Lakeland Village Community, near Grand Avenue and Evergreen Street, according to a news release from the Riverside County Fire Department. The fire was 15 percent contained as of Monday morning.

No homes were immediately threatened by the fire, and no injuries have been reported, fire officials said.

Two helicopters, 185 firefighters and six air tankers were battling the blaze.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
