The Long Beach SWAT Team worked on an active scene at a car wash after reports surfaced of a man barricaded inside the business on Monday.

Police were flagged down around 1:29 p.m. near Wardlow Road and Santa Fe Street after receiving reports of an assault, said Sgt Richardson of the Long Beach Police Department.

A man at the scene said another man pointed a gun at him from the passenger side of a vehicle, according to Richardson. The victim gave police a description of the car and officers located the vehicle near 20th Street and Atlantic Avenue.

Police followed the car to the corner of Pacific Coast Highway and Long Beach Boulevard and detained the driver without incident.

The passenger was believed to have walked into a local car wash and barricaded himself inside, according to police.

Officers set up containment and assembled a search for the man, but he was not located, police said in a news release.

The driver was booked for assault with a deadly weapon, driving on a suspended license, possession of drug paraphernalia and an outstanding arrest warrant.
