23-Year-Old Man ID’d as Victim of Fatal Sylmar Shooting; Gunman Sought

Police on Thursday identified the man who was fatally shot outside an apartment building in Sylmar this week amid the search for his killer.

Alan Castor, 23, was shot to death around 1:40 a.m. Wednesday near the intersection of Dronfield Avenue and Sayre Street, according to a Los Angeles Police Department news release.

Castor was standing on the sidewalk with friends when he was approached by the gunman, who opened fire after some sort of argument with the victim, police said in the release.

The San Fernando Valley resident sustained multiple gunshot wounds and died after being transported by paramedics to a local hospital, the release stated.

The gunman fled the scene after the shooting, and police did not have a description of the wanted person.
