Simi Valley police released this photo in connection to the incident.

A woman who was allegedly driving under the influence of alcohol with a child in her SUV near a Simi Valley middle school was arrested on multiple charges Wednesday afternoon, police said.

The driver was pulled over by an officer conducting speed enforcement in front of Hillside Middle School — located at 2222 Fitzgerald Road — as part of a campaign to keep children in school zone’s safe, according to a Simi Valley Police Department news release.

The woman was allegedly driving erratically and at about 35 mph, which is 10 miles per hour above the posted speed limit, the release stated.

She was stopped just east of the middle school.

When the officer made contact with the driver, identified only as a 47-year-old Simi Valley resident, she observed signs that the woman was impaired by alcohol, the release stated. A 7-year-old child was also discovered in the SUV.

“The driver had just picked the child up at one local school (drove through a school zone) and then drove across the school zone in front of Hillside Middle School on the way home,” the release said.

Her blood alcohol level was found to be over .08 percent, police said.

After being arrested on suspicion of DUI and child endangerment, the woman was booked at the Ventura County Jail, according to the release.

No additional info was released.
