The Mega Millions jackpot climbed to $433 million ahead of Friday night's drawing, making it one of the biggest grand prizes in the lottery game's history

The prize, which jumped from $422 million to $433 million Friday morning, is the sixth largest Mega Millions jackpot.

It's also just the seventh time in its 16-year history that the grand prize soared above $400 million, according to a news release on the game's website.

However, two of those times came earlier this year: in January, a winner in Florida claimed a $414 million jackpot; and in March, someone in New Jersey won a $533 million grand prize, fourth largest in the game's history.

And while no one had all six numbers in the last drawing on Tuesday night, three tickets matched five to win $1 million each. Those tickets were sold in Florida, New Jersey and Oklahoma.

The last jackpot -- $142 million -- was won on May 4.

Friday's drawing will take place at 8 p.m. PT.
