Several people were injured when a vehicle being pursued by authorities was involved in a traffic collision in the Vermont Square neighborhood of South Los Angeles Wednesday morning.

The incident began when officers spotted a stolen vehicle and attempted to make a stop, Los Angeles Police Department Sgt. Josh Rider said.

The driver, believed to be a female, sped away with three passengers inside the tan colored Honda Civic.

Officers pursued the vehicle until it ran a red light and crashed into a Toyota Rav 4 at the intersection of West 48th Street and Vermont Avenue, Rider said.

The driver and two other occupants in the stolen vehicle were transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The fourth occupant, who was described as a male person of interest, fled from the vehicle and is being sought by authorities.

Two people in the victim’s vehicle were treated at the scene and released.

They said they were driving home from Pasadena when the Honda came out of nowhere and crashed into them.
