An investigation is underway Thursday after a man was found with fatal gunshot wounds in the parking lot of a CVS store in Westminster.

Police were initially called about 9:40 p.m. when someone reported a fight at the CVS in the 15400 block of Brookhurst Street, Westminster Police Department Cpl. Alan Aoki said.

Officers were en route to the location when the incident was upgraded to a possible shots fired call, Aoki said.

When they arrived, officers found a man down in the parking lot with multiple gunshot wounds.

The man, identified only as an Asian male in his 20s, was pronounced dead at a local hospital, Aoki said.

The gunman, also described as an Asian male in his 20s, was seen fleeing the area on foot.

Witnesses said they heard four to six shots before the gunman left the parking lot.

Investigators found several casings near a white Honda that was involved in the incident, Aoki said.

The motive was unclear but Aoki said they were looking into the possibly of the shooting being gang related.

“We do have Asian gangs in our city. At this point we are trying to follow leads to see if that was involved,” Aoki said.

Investigators are hoping to gather surveillance video and contact witnesses to the shooting.

Anyone with information was asked to call the Police Department at 714-898-3315.
