Hello Kitty Grand Cafe Opens at Irvine Spectrum Center

The first Hello Kitty Cafe in the country opened its doors at the Irvine Spectrum Center on Friday.

Customers started lining up at 5 a.m. eager to enjoy the tea and pastries served at the cafe, which is painted pink. They lined up for polaroid photos with the Hello Kitty statue, sipped on sweet-tasting tea, and nibbled on Hello Kitty cookies.

The cafe is open daily, but it also has a private reservation room for afternoon tea during Wednesdays through Sundays.

At 5 p.m. the afternoon tea room turns into a reserved bar, serving up cocktails in tropical Hello Kitty mugs.

The reservation room for tea and cocktails is already booked for the next month. However, the cafe is open to customers willing to wait in line for the scrumptious treats.

The cafe is located in the outdoor shopping center, which is at 670 Spectrum Center Drive in Irvine.
