Body Found Beneath Compton House; No Foul Play Suspected

A rescue operation turned into a body recovery after a person was found dead in the subfloor of a Compton home on Tuesday afternoon, authorities said.

The discovery was first reported about 5:30 p.m. in the 3700 block of Pauline Street, just east of Long Beach Boulevard, a Los Angeles County Fire Department officials said.

The Los Angeles Sheriff's Department only identified the individual as a "worker," adding that investigators did not suspect foul play.

Other who live in the neighborhood said the home was sold a few weeks ago and a man was hired to do work in a crawl space beneath the home.

According to neighbor Carlos Cerna, the man went missing and they had gone searching for him.

Officials have not released the man's identity.

Authorities provided no further information.
