Homicide Investigation Underway After Body Found in Angeles National Forest

Homicide detectives are working to determine the circumstances surrounding the death of a person whose body was discovered deep in the Angeles National Forest north of La Canada Flintridge on Saturday morning.

U.S. Forest Service employees were clearing debris about 10:30 a.m. when they found the body alongside Angeles Crest Highway, near mile marker 31, Deputy Armando Viera Jr. of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Information Bureau said in a written statement.

“Based on the condition of the remains, this incident is being investigated as a homicide,” he said. “Cause of death is unknown.”

No description of the victim was available, the deputy added.

Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner-Coroner’s investigators responded to the scene, official said.
