Three people suffered burns during a house fire in which explosions were reported in the El Rio neighborhood of Ventura County on Saturday morning, officials said.
The fire was reported about 8 a.m. along the 400 block of Lemar Avenue, Ventura County Fire Department Capt. Stan Ziegler said.
"Crews did arrive to find a house well-involved in fire and did get reports from witnesses that there were multiple explosions," Ziegler said.
Firefighters found three people inside the burning home who had suffered "significant injuries," the captain said. An update on their conditions was not available.
Knockdown was declared around 9 a.m.
"The explosions did destroy a significant amount of the home," Ziegler said. An Urban Search and Rescue Team was called in to shore up the structurally compromised building, "due to blast damage."
The cause of the fire and explosions remained under investigation.
Fire officials said they expected crews to remain on scene into the afternoon.
