Reseda Man Accused of Fatally Beating His Girlfriend on Thanksgiving Charged With Murder

A man who allegedly beat his girlfriend to death  in their Reseda apartment on Thanksgiving Day was charged with murder on Tuesday, officials said.

According to the Los Angeles Police Department, fire crews responded to a medical emergency call in the 7500 block of Enfield Avenue around 10:50 a.m. on Nov. 22.

After the L.A. Fire Department arrived at the scene, personnel alerted the LAPD of a “suspicious death.”

Prosecutors said Ricardo Sauz, 35, had attacked his girlfriend Zindy G. in the bathroom. LAPD previously announced that the 30-year-old victim suffered blunt force trauma, which led to her death.

According to police, Sauz confessed to causing the woman’s death. He was booked into jail the day of the incident, inmate records show.

The couple had a history of domestic violence, LAPD said without going into further detail. Police did say they had an 8-year-old child, but prosecutors later said that the two had a 7-year-old son.

Sauz was charged with one count of murder, according to the L.A. District Attorney’s Office.

If convicted as charged, he could face 25 years to life in state in prison. His bail was set at $2,000,000.

The case remained under investigation.
