Suspected DUI Driver Taken Into Custody Following Pursuit Through San Fernando Valley

A pickup driver wanted of suspicion of driving under the influence was detained following a pursuit that ended in Panorama City Wednesday evening, Los Angeles police said.

Authorities began chasing the man shortly after 6:15 p.m. in North Hollywood, near the intersection of Farmdale Avenue and Tiara Street, according to Mike Lopez, a media relations officer with the department.

The man then began heading north on the Hollywood Freeway.

The chase caused a separate collision on the 170, and police requested an ambulance to respond to that crash, Lopez said.

The pursuit eventually ended near the corner of Wakefield Avenue and Roscoe Boulevard at about 6:30 p.m.

Footage from the scene showed the suspect’s truck had sustained damaged on the driver’s side headlight, and came to rest against a curb.

A case of beer from Angel City Brewery and several discarded bottles could be seen on the floor in the back seat of the cab.

Once the man was in custody, officials found a gun in his car, Lopez said.
