AIDS Healthcare Foundation (AHF), the largest global AIDS organization, is once again set to hold a variety of community events and formal observations in many of the 42 countries around the globe that AHF serves in to mark World AIDS Day, formally observed each year on December 1st. Under its “Keep the Promise on HIV/AIDS!” banner, AHF will celebrate and acknowledge progress made in the fight against HIV and AIDS. These AHF World AIDS Day events also serve as a reminder to world leaders that with almost one million deaths and nearly two million new infections occurring last year alone, there is still much work to be done in the global fight to defeat the epidemic.
In LOS ANGELES, AHF will host a World AIDS Day commemoration event at the popular Hollywood nightclub, Boulevard 3, on Sunset Boulevard, featuring an all women lineup of entertainers hosted by Rocsi Diaz with musical performances by the artists Monica, Chesca and DJ-ing by Carisma.

Step back into early Los Angeles and get immersed in a holiday mystery 1918 style at Heritage Square Museum’s popular Lamplight Celebration Tours December 1st and December 2nd 2018.

It’s Christmas Eve 1918 and Alma Whitaker is missing. Betram & Bloom, Private Inquiry Agents, are on the case and hope to solve the mystery before Christmas morning. In addition, as part of the admission fee, guests can enjoy a festive wine and cheese reception followed by caroling and sweet deserts.

Tours begin at 4 p.m. with a new tour starting every 20 minutes. Tour prices: $45 adults, $15 for children over 6 years old. Advance reservations only.

Note: program is not suitable for children under 6 years old. As an evening tour, guests need to be aware of dimly lit conditions, walking on uneven surfaces, up and down steps and long periods of standing. Guests will not be allowed to walk the ground before or after their tour.

The 2nd Annual Union Station Holiday Festival, a pop-up artisan marketplace, rolls into the station’s south patio on Saturday, December 1st from 11:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m. with some of L.A.’s most sought-after artists and artisans, live entertainment, fun, free activities for kids, food trucks and a craft beer garden for holiday shoppers.

Children and their parents are invited to this free series held monthly on a Saturday morning from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM. Each session will include a short, age-appropriate history lesson in the galleries followed by a related craft or activity.
Each workshop is designed to be engaging and educational for elementary age (5 – 11 years) children. Topics for the workshops will rotate throughout the year to feature relevant, seasonal lessons and activities.
RSVP is requested, but registration is also available at the door. Every workshop is offered free of charge.
By creating something with their hands related to the history topic of the month, children will further create memories based upon their history lessons. Families can expect a fun-filled learning hour at the museum!

Experience this year’s “Holiday Magic” parade theme aboard Battleship IOWA’s teak decks. Guests will be front and center to all the action of the 56th Annual Holiday Afloat, a San Pedro holiday and family-friendly tradition, Saturday, December 1, 2018, from 6:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.
The family-friendly event includes a Hot Cocoa Bar where kids of all ages can get creative with their toppings. Guests can also experience hot apple cider and a traditional “weenie roast”. They’ll have professional face painters on board, Santa Claus, carolers, and lots of other surprises.

The vehicle was built in Los Angeles by African American Cliff Hall and named after Beverly Hills businessman Louis Corwin, the primary financial backer of the project.
