Three people were hurt, including a 16-year-old girl who had to be freed from the wreckage, following a rollover crash on the 210 Freeway in Sylmar on Sunday night, officials said.
The crash was reported about 9:20 p.m. on the westbound freeway near Yarnell Street, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The involved SUV overturned, trapping the three occupants inside, CHP Sgt. David Eadie said.
"The fire department did have to use the Jaws of Life," he said. "They removed the top of the vehicle to extract everyone from the vehicle."
One of the those injured in the crash was described as a 16-year-old girl, Los Angeles Fire Department spokeswoman Amy Bastman said. The other two patients were described as female, but their ages were not clear.
An update on the victims' conditions was not available.
Officials initially shut down the entire westbound freeway as they worked to rescue the patients, but began reopening traffic lanes within an hour.
