Driver in Erratic Pursuit Detained After Crashing in Hollywood

Los Angeles police detained a driver who led officers on a pursuit through the San Fernando Valley and into Hollywood Wednesday night.

Sky5 caught up with the chase around 11:05 p.m. as the driver of a white van in Studio City was heading south on the 101 Freeway.

Although police scanner traffic indicated the vehicle was stolen, authorities could not immediately confirm why they were chasing it. It read “Quality Jet Rooter” on the side.

The van exited the 101 at Hollywood Boulevard and collided with the rear end of another vehicle getting off the freeway, sending it spinning out into traffic.

The pursued vehicle suffered visible damage, but the driver proceeded onto city streets. Video showed the erratic driver traveling on the wrong side of the road in busy areas, such as along the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

The driver then crashed near the intersection of Highland Avenue and Leland Way.

One person could later be seen being handcuffed and detained. Scanner traffic had earlier indicated two people were in the vehicle, but it later appeared that was not the case.
