A mother was taken into custody after officers found her son alone in a park on Sunday morning, authorities said.
Police said they detained the parent on suspicion of child endangerment.
A couple walking their dog had spotted the boy at Cabrillo Park with a stroller nearby and no adults around, Lt. Steevenson with Upland police told KTLA. Officers responded to the park in the 1400 block of W. 11th St. around 8:30 a.m., according to the agency.
“There were no other subjects around and no personal identifying information on the stroller or within its contents,” a statement from the department said.
Less than two hours after announcing the case, police said they were able to identify the boy.
Steevenson said as the story made rounds on social media, several people contacted them saying they knew the child. The parents, who live in Upland, were then located, the lieutenant said.
“Thank you for all your calls and concerns,” the Police Department tweeted.
The child remained in Department of Children and Family Services custody as the investigation continued, authorities said.
Officials provided no further information.
