Woman in Stable Condition After Officer-Involved Shooting in Reseda: LAPD

A woman is in stable condition after she suffered a gunshot wound during an officer involved-shooting at a residential neighborhood in Reseda on Sunday morning, according to Los Angeles police.

Authorities received a 911 call about a woman with a gun in the 8000 block of Hesperia Avenue just after 7:30 a.m., Sgt. Barry Montgomery said.

Officers arrived to find the woman holding a handgun to her head in front of a residence, Montgomery said. They told her to drop the weapon, the sergeant added.

"There was at least one officer that fired, and the suspect was struck by gunfire," Montgomery said.

No other injuries were reported.

Montgomery said the woman had "some type of connection" with the home where officers found her, and that they recovered a handgun at the scene.

LAPD announced that an officer-involved shooting had occurred in the area of Strathern Street and Lindley Avenue in a 9:18 a.m. tweet.

The Police Department has blocked off Hesperia Avenue, a smaller street parallel to Lindley Avenue, where several patrol units were seen. Investigators were expected to remain at the scene for several hours.

Authorities provided no further details.
