Officials warned of lengthy delays on the 15 Freeway through Corona as a 80-acre brush fire burned near Temescal Canyon Road.

Crews who arrived at the scene near Temescal Canyon Road at around 11 a.m. initially said the blaze, dubbed the Ivy Fire, was burning 1/2 to 2 acres of vegetation and was spreading in a slow to moderate speed, according to Cal Fire.

By 12:45 p.m., Cal Fire said the blaze was holding at 30 acres. At about 2:50 p.m., the fire had spread to 50 acres but was 100% contained, according to online incident updates.

Authorities later said the fire was at 80 acres.

The No. 3 lane on the northbound 15 near Glen Ivy Hot Springs was expected to be blocked for at least four hours, Caltrans announced at 1:30 p.m. The agency urged motorists on both sides of the freeway to take a different route.

No structures were apparently threatened by flames, video from the scene shows.

Some 100 firefighters were battling the fire, according to Cal Fire. Officials have also requested a crew from Southern California Edison due to downed power lines in the area, the agency added.
