American Diabetes Association Expo includes free health screenings, cooking demonstrations as well as product and exercise information.

Celebrate Cinco De Mayo, La Batalla de Puebla (The Battle of Puebla) with craft beers and live mariachis! If you 21-years of age and older, you will have the opportunity to sample a delicious variety of craft beers from L.A. based Golden Road Brewery and other artisanal beer producers from Baja California at the Museum of Latin American Art. The night includes performances by Mariachi Bella and Ricardo Duque with his mariachi ensemble Voces de América as well as light Mexican appetizers.

Trucks for the Troops Food Truck Festival

Enjoy beverages and more than 15-popular food trucks, a video game bus, live music, a demonstration by the Simi Valley Police Department’s K-9 Unit at the Second Annual “Trucks for the Troops” fundraiser. Ten percent of food sales will be donated to For the Troops, a local organization that sends care packages to American troops fighting abroad.

The AMVETS Post 113 Irwindale will be having FoodTruck Fiesta Cinco de Mayo Celebration Saturday May 4th from 12p.m. to 5p.m. Food Trucks that will be joining are The Godfather Truck, Rollin Ribs Bbq, Mustache Mikes Italian Ice, Sams Kettle Corn and Mun2 Cuisines from Mexico. Crafters and Artists including Artist Ernie Herrera, will be displaying their unique items plus performing live Ballet Folklorico Valenzuela. This event is open to the public and admission is free, prizes will be raffled off throughout the day and some lucky person will be going home with a 32″ T.V.

Check out Franklin Canyon, an active filming location for movies and TV shows. In fact, the Creature from the Black Lagoon, Andy Griffith Show as well as album covers for the Rolling Stones and Simon Garfunkel were shot here. This historic location that was once owned by oil baron Edward L. Doheny and used as a summer retreat and a place to graze and water his cattle.
Learn about the land and get some exercise on easy walk with naturalist of the Santa Mountains Conservancy.

And, time is running out to see the Flower Fields of Carlsbad is full bloom. These spectacular colors on the rolling hills of North San Diego County will only last through Mother’s Day weekend. The nearly fifty acres of Ranunculus flowers are in bloom will be gone until next spring.
