Downtown Long Beach is home for the Longines Masters of Los Angeles this weekend. This year’s indoor jumping competition takes place for the first time at the Long Beach Convention Center.
Some of the world’s best equestrians are competing in the prestigious event for top honors in the Grand Slam Indoor of Show Jumping, among them 2016 Rio Olympic Silver Medalist Lucy Davis.
After this competition, the event travels to Paris in December and then to Hong Kong in February.

A different kind of horsepower event is happening in Pomona. This is the Lucas Oil Off Road Expo, where you will find ten acres of this year’s hottest off road vehicles, products, and accessories as well as Lucas Oil Off Road Racing demos.

Cindy Sherman: Imitation of Life

And, this is the last weekend to see the work of artist Cindy Sherman at THE BROAD. “Cindy Sherman: Imitation of Life” is the first major museum show of Sherman’s work in Los Angeles in nearly 20 years.

That’s right! Today is the last day to see this exhibition which fills The Broad’s first-floor galleries with 120 works of artist Cindy Sherman.

There are 20 varieties of California native and 10 varieties sub-tropical butterflies we can mingle with at the NEW Butterfly Pavilion at the Natural History Museum of Los Angeles County. The new facility is bigger, brighter, and features lots of new information about these colorful and delicate creatures.
By the way, if you wear bright colors when you visit, a butterfly or two might land on you!

Also at the Natural History Museum, the largest exhibition in the United States dedicated to exploring pterosaurs. At PTEROSAURS: FLIGHT IN THE AGE OF DINOSAURS at the Natural History Museum of Los Angeles County teaches us these prehistoric flying creatures were NEITHER birds not giant bats!

Also, at this exhibit we can fly like a Pterosaurs and catch prey!

While we’re on the subject of prehistoric creatures, there are 17 life size, life-like dinosaurs at the Los Angeles Zoo. This is DINOSAURS UNEXTINCT, where we can come face-to-face with animatronic dinosaurs on an adventure that includes photo opportunities and a fossil dig.
