Initially, the refrigerated trailer appeared to be empty, but upon further inspection, authorities discovered a trap door on the floor.

Firefighters say someone had smeared grease over it in an effort to obscure the welding work from view.

It took about an hour for firefighters to cut open the compartment, and once they did, they found several bags of cocaine inside.

Police zeroed in on the truck after arresting two men in Sylmar at the corner of Foothill Boulevard and Paxton Street.

That’s just a few blocks away from a storage yard on Lopez Canyon Road where the big rig was found.

The street value of the drugs is estimated at $2.5 million, according to the LAPD.
