2 Injured When Car Slams Into Palms Senior Center

Two elderly women were recovering Monday after a car slammed into the Palms senior center where they lived, authorities said.

The collision occurred Sunday at 10:30 p.m. in the 3500 block of Overland Avenue (map) when an employee backed her vehicle into the building, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department.

The car landed on a bed, injuring a female resident who was said to be in her late 80s.

She and a second woman were taken to area hospitals.

Their conditions were not known, but witnesses said both victims were conscious and breathing.

The exact cause of the crash was under investigation.
