There are hundreds of apps released each month and we scour the Interent for the top picks so you don’t have to. On the December edition of Apps to Know we found useful apps for holiday gifting and traveling.

First up we have a powerful photo edit,  Snapseed. It is one of the top iOS photo editing apps available now on Android and free! Google bought the app earlier this year and dropped the five dollar price tag for its customers. Snapseed lets you edit your photos like a professional offering more than simple filters.

Ink Cards gives users the chance to send created images as a real postcard right from your smartphone. Send beautifully designed five by seven cards to real mailboxes for $1.99. This app will also suggest you to send your photos to your closest Facebook friends. Ink Cards is free for Android and iOS. If you would like a similar experience for a little bit cheaper, Touchnote is free for download on iOS and Android and 99 cents to send your photos out.

Cobook is a new type of address book for your iPhone. The app takes info from Twitter, Facebook, and LinkedIn to help fill in extra details about your contacts. There is even a dial pad so that you can replace your phone icon with co-book. It is free for iPhone.

Make holiday travel a little less stressful with airports using TravelNerd. The simple app has you covered providing information on airports around the world. You can see terminal maps, food choices past security, WiFi details, and much more. Airports by TravelNerd is free on iOS.

Finally, make the most of your premium cable channels and streaming movie services with NextGuide. The app gives users a way to understand all of what’s on your screen and offers a new way to look at the classic grid guide. It’s the best way Rich found to search for movies across cable tv, Netflix, Hulu Plus, Amazon, and iTunes. Next Guide is free for the iPad.
