A killer is on the loose in Arleta.

LAPD says a local wireless store owner was shot multiple times and killed on the sidewalk in front of his store, Monday night.

LAPD detectives have not said who they think murdered 34-year-old Nestor Hernandez.

They say he was closing up his wireless shop around 8:40 p.m. when an unknown man with a gun got into a fight with him. Witnesses saw the gunman run away.

“It’s really senseless, and in this type of neighborhood where it’s working class, it’s very disheartening when you hear about this type of situation,” neighbor Kelly Mugallanes said.

“People are working for a living and just trying to support their family.”

The shutters are pulled closed on N H Wireless, and there is no telling if they will ever be open again.

The bullets that killed Hernandez still mark the ground. The store did have a surveillance cameras.

“We don’t have murders like this happen. It’s very scary,” Mugallanes said.

It seems Hernandez was the kind of neighbor everyone liked. Several people described him as a person who would go out of his way to help his fellow neighbors.

“One of our fences actually went down and we worked together to build the fence back,” Mugallanes said.

Neighbors told KTLA News Hernandez had young children.

He purchased N H Wireless in February to support his growing family. Friends say he was living the American dream.

“We have a lot of children and families in this neighborhood and they’re going to be very upset to hear that something so close to home happened to such a nice guy and a young family,” Mugallanes said.

“It’s really a shame,” he said.
