FLORENCE, Calif. (KTLA) — A bicyclist was killed in Florence late Wednesday when he was struck by a driver fleeing from police, authorities said.
The fatal collision happened near East 84th Street and South Central Avenue, according to police.
The vehicle dragged the victim across the street, also knocking over a street sign on the corner.

Police were initially summoned to a call of shots fired around 10:30 p.m. about a half-mile away at East 84th Street and South Avalon Boulevard.
The incident was some type of domestic dispute between a man and his girlfriend, police said.
“We found three casings at the scene. They were fired into his girlfriend’s vehicle,” said Sgt. Rick Rogers.
Officers spotted the man’s vehicle and a police helicopter followed it.
After the crash, the man tried to flee, but officers were able to track him down and take him into custody, police said.
