POMONA, Calif. (KTLA) – Two people were killed and another was airlifted after a big rig and a box truck collided on a freeway transition lane in Pomona Tuesday.

The accident took place just before 9 a.m. on the eastbound 60 transition to the southbound 71.

Aerial video from Sky5 showed the contents of the box truck, which appeared to have rear-ended the big rig, scattered all over the transition road.

Two men were killed in the crash, according the California Highway Patrol.

Traffic on the eastbound 60 Freeway was temporarily stopped while a county fire helicopter landed on the freeway to transport an additional victim.

That person’s condition was not immediately available.

The transition road was expected to remain closed for several hours as officers investigated the double-fatal crash.
