LOS ANGELES (KTLA) —  The Alliance for Children’s Rights will celebrate the union of more than 100 families at the Edmund D. Edelman Children’s Court on National Adoption Day Friday.

A press conference will be held to announce the adoptions at 12:30 in the courthouse located at 201 Centre Plaza Drive in Monterey Park.

The National Adoption Day Coalition, of which the Alliance is a founding member, recently commissioned a Harris poll on teen adoption.

The poll found that only 18 percent of individuals would consider adopting a teen (age 13 to 18) from foster care.

“The Harris study underscores the need for further education on teen foster care adoptions,” said Alliance CEO Janis Spire, “because it’s never too late for youth to find permanence after a childhood of trauma and abuse.”

Hundreds of courts and organizations across the country are dedicating the entire day to finalizing adoptions for foster youth.
