ORANGE COUNTY (KTLA) — Police say thick fog was a major factor in a nasty overnight pile-up on the Garden Grove Freeway.

The crash happened around 2:35 a.m. on Saturday near the Magnolia exit on the 22 Freeway.

According to the California Highway Patrol, two vehicles crashed into one another in the middle lanes.

But the heavy fog blinded other drivers, and within minutes, other vehicles joined the fray. A total of 7 cars, including a motorcycle, were involved in the crash.

At least four people, including the motorcyclist, were transported to local hospitals for treatment, officials said.

All westbound lanes were closed while the crash was cleaned up.
