Ut-oh!!! What’s that in the water? Whales heading south to the warmer water off the Mexican coast for the winter. 

See Gray whales, they’re the ones that have the barnacles hitching a ride on their bodies, one of the world’s longest migrating mammals and the endangered Fin whales. They’re the sleek, streamlined whales, the second largest animal on the planet.

The Aquarium of the Pacific in Long Beach and Harbor Breeze Cruises offer special whale watching prices, so you can see these magnificent creatures migrate and then learn more about them at the aquarium. What an adventure!

The Steven Spielberg movie “Lincoln” has generated new interest in the civil war. Learn more at this exhibit “African American Military Portraits from the American Civil War.” These selected images from the Library of Congress Collection can be seen at the California African American Museum.

The photographs teach us about the African American soldiers and sailors who fought in the four year long conflict.

James Rojas, nationally renowned urban planner and founder of the Latino Urban Forum, wants us to bring our vision of an ideal city of Riverside to the Riverside Art Museum’s newest exhibit, Eco Art: Graphic Design for Change.  

Hundreds of simple, everday objects, from hair rollers to bottle caps are used to build models designed to spark our creativity.

Enter the vault at the Petersen Automotive Museum. Normally, only museum staff is allowed in the special area the houses more than three hundred historic vehicles.

No more than 20-people at a time are allowed on the hour-long tours in the vault, which is about the size of a football field.

Former Los Angeles Mayor Tom Bradley (((NATSOT))), West Los Angeles Pastor Bishop Charles E. Blake (((NATSOT))) and the late KTLA Anchor Larry McCormick. They are among “The 90 That Built LA” on exhibit at the Los Angeles Museum of African American Art. The exhibit celebrates the Los Angeles Urban League’s 90-plus years of community service. Admission is free!
