LOS ANGELES (KTLA) — A spectacular multi-vehicle crash in Hollywood late Sunday resulted in a passenger — and a handgun — being ejected, police and witnesses said.

A Ford Explorer was moving at over 100 mph before a three-vehicle crash in Hollywood, witnesses said.

Shortly before midnight, a Ford Explorer was moving at more than 100 mph on Sunset Boulevard near Gardener Street when it clipped a BMW, overturned and came to a stop on a sidewalk, according to witnesses.

A passenger was hospitalized and listed in serious condition after being thrown from the SUV, authorities said.

Two passengers in another vehicle were also taken to a hospital after complaining of pain, and one or two people were treated at the scene, authorities said.

The female driver of the Explorer was arrested on felony DUI charges, according to police.

A loaded gun was also apparently ejected from one of the vehicles involved in the collision.

“I saw a gun on the sidewalk and I covered it with a T-shirt,” a witness, who declined to be identified, told KTLA. A male passenger of the SUV “pushed me away, grabbed the gun and walked down the road. I don’t know what he did with the gun.”

The passengers of the Explorer were later briefly detained by officers but were not expected to be charged, police said.

An investigation into the crash was ongoing.
