Magnitude-2.8 Earthquake Hits Carson Area

An earthquake with a preliminary magnitude of 2.9 struck in Los Angeles County Wednesday morning, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

carson quakeThe temblor hit at 9:42 a.m. about 2 miles northeast of Carson, close to the cities of Gardena and Torrance, the USGS reported.

The USGS later downgraded the quake to a 2.8 magnitude.

No damage or injuries were reported.
