Human Remains Found in Angeles National Forest Identified

ANGELES NATIONAL FOREST, Calif. — Authorities Thursday identified the human remains recovered near Big Tujunga Canyon Road after a hiker reported finding an apparent shallow grave.

Los Angeles County sheriff’s homicide detectives and the Montrose Search and Rescue Team found the remains in the Angeles National Forest January 19.

The victim has been identified as Nicolas Carter, a 25 year-old male resident of Glendale.

Carter was the subject of a missing persons report filed with the Glendale Police Department on January 7.

The Coroner’s Office has determined the cause of death was from blunt force trauma.

Detectives are investigating the case as a homicide.
