One person was killed and two people were critically injured after a head-on, mutli-vehicle crash in Fillmore, according to the Ventura County Fire Department.

The crash was reported about 3:50 p.m. along East Telegraph Road between Center Street and Torrey Road. The road is also known as Highway 126 in that area.

One person was dead at the scene and two people were originally reported to be in critical condition, Ventura County Fire Department Capt. Mike Lindbery tweeted.

One of the victims was flown to a local trauma center, while the other was taken to a hospital by ground, Lindbery tweeted.

Three vehicles were believed to have been involved and several people were trapped before being rescued by first responders.

The Moorpark-area California Highway Patrol also responded to the incident.

The roadway was blocked during the investigation, but the eastbound lanes were opened about 6:40 p.m. Traffic in the area was being diverted through Piru until the roadway is completely clear, the CHP tweeted.
