Gunfire in Wilmington on Wednesday afternoon left two people dead and two others wounded, authorities said.

The shooting was reported about 3:10 p.m. in the 800 block of Bayview Avenue, near Anaheim Street, Los Angeles Fire Department spokesman Nicholas Prange said.

A woman estimated to be in her 20s died at the scene, Los Angeles Police Department Officer Jader Chavez told KTLA.  A male victim, whose age was not available, was pronounced dead at a hospital soon after.

Another female victim was brought to a hospital by a private vehicle and listed in stable condition, according to Officer Mike Lopez. She had suffered a gunshot wound to one of her legs.

A fourth victim, described as a woman in her 70s, was treated for a grazing gunshot wound, Chavez said.

The victims ranged in age “from juvenile to senior,” LAPD Capt. Jay Mastick said.

The shooter approached a crowd of people and fired multiple times, police said.  He was last seen in the area of I Street and McDonald Avenue on foot. A detailed description was not available.

“Right now, we’re looking at it as a gang-related homicide,” Mastick said.
