One person was killed when a car crashed into a utility pole in West Hollywood Thursday morning.
The solo-vehicle crash occurred at the intersection of Sunset Boulevard and Larrabee Street about 4:30 a.m.
The driver, who was alone in the vehicle, died at the scene, said Sgt. Lance Eddins with the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.
Video from the scene showed the car had likely lost control while heading westbound on Sunset Boulevard and then jumped a curb.
Once on the sidewalk, the Nissan Altima apparently plowed through a store front construction site before knocking over a tree and a parking meter.
The car finally came to a stop when it struck the utility pole.
It was unclear if speed or alcohol was a factor in the crash, Eddins said.
Investigators were called to the scene to determine the cause of the crash.
A SigAlert was issued for all lanes in all directions on Sunset Boulevard between San Vicente Boulevard and Horne Avenue during the investigation, the California Highway Patrol announced in a tweet.
The closure was expected to continue until about 2 p.m., according to the tweet.
