Two men armed with a handgun were arrested early Sunday morning after allegedly following a woman to her Pasadena home with the intention of committing a robbery, authorities said.
Cory Hartfield, 19, of Las Vegas, was being held on $50,000 bail; parolee Christopher Savery, 23, of Hawthorne, was being held without bail, according to a statement from the Pasadena Police Department.
A woman called the department about 12:05 a.m. and reported a “suspicious” vehicle occupied by two people in the 1400 block of Rose Villa Street, the news release said.
Officers responded to the location, contacted the pair and searched the vehicle, where a stolen handgun was recovered, police said. Hartfield and Savery were subsequently taken into custody.
An investigation indicated that the two arrestees may have followed the woman from the area of Lake Avenue and California Boulevard, where she first noticed the vehicle, to her home, police said.
“It is believed the suspects followed the victim home to commit a robbery,” the statement said, adding that the alleged victim did not know the two men.
At the time of the arrests, Savery was on parole for receiving stolen property, according to the Police Department.
The investigation was ongoing.
Anyone with information about the incident was asked to call Pasadena police’s Criminal Investigation Division at 626-744-4522, or the department’s non-emergency number at 626-744-4241.
