A sheriff's homicide unit is investigating after five people were found dead following a residential structure fire in an unincorporated part of Temecula, authorities said Tuesday.
Deputies responded just before 6 a.m. Monday to a residence in the 41000 block of Cruz Way, where Cal Fire crews were working to extinguish a blaze, according to a news release from the Riverside County Sheriff's Department.
They went inside once the fire was out and discovered the remains of five adults, the release stated.
Authorities have not identified any of the deceased.
The fire was deemed "suspicious" after the remains were located Monday, according to the Sheriff's Department.
The sheriff's Central Homicide Unit and a Cal Fire Arson Unit are investigating the cause of deadly blaze, which remains unknown.
