65-Year-Old Man Killed in Thanksgiving Hit-and-Run; LAPD Searching for Driver

A 65-year-old man was killed in a hit-and-run while crossing the street on Thanksgiving, and police are asking for the public’s help in finding the driver who fled the scene.

The fatal hit-and-run happened around 10:45 p.m. Thursday on Vermont Avenue, just north of 17th Place, outside of an unmarked crosswalk, the Los Angeles Police Department said in a news release. The victim was crossing eastbound on Vermont, when he was fatally struck by a black sedan going northbound. Police said the driver failed to stop or render aid.

First-responders transported the man to a local hospital where he died from his injuries.
