Seven people were trapped inside an office at a Fontana strip mall after part of the building’s roof collapsed Friday afternoon, authorities said.
San Bernardino County Fire Department crews arrived in the 17000 block of Foothill Boulevard (map) to find the “ruins” of an overhanging facade on the ground, blocking the exit, according to a news release.
Seven people who were trapped inside a business were freed by firefighters and rescue workers via a ladder that was used as a bridge over the rubble, the release said.
The structure had collapsed on the hoods of several cars as well, causing damage.
No one as injured.
All businesses in the strip mall were closed until further notice.
